Pawtucket, Rhode Island (March 3, 2020) – The Massachusetts & Rhode Island Chapter of the Huntington’s Disease Society of America (HDSA) is excited to announce that the chapter will be a part of the Pawtucket Red Sox’s “Paws for a Cause”. This will take place during the Red Sox game on Saturday, July 18th against the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railraiders at McCoy Stadium at 6:15 PM.
“Paws for a Cause” includes recognition on the field for the pregame ceremony, a table in the Main Concourse to distribute literature and address fans’ questions, and an interview with the Red Sox radio broadcasters during the game. Half the proceeds of every ticket you sell through the link will go towards HDSA. To view the ticket link, click here
“The PawSox once again look forward to working with the Huntington’s Disease Society of America in 2020,” said Director of Baseball Operations & Community Relations, Joe Bradlee. “We hope we can use this Saturday evening in July to raise awareness for the disease to our fans at McCoy Stadium, and put the spotlight on all of the impactful work being done by the HDSA.”

Huntington’s disease is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities during their prime working years and has no cure. Each child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the faulty gene that causes Huntington’s disease.
