Swinging for Hope: HDSA’s Annual Golf for a Cure Returns This May
This spring, community members across Massachusetts and Rhode Island will come together once again for a day of camaraderie, purpose, and impact. HDSA MA / RI is proud to host its 5th Annual Golf for a Cure on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the beautiful Springfield Country Club.
With a 12:30 PM shotgun start, golfers of all skill levels are invited to take part in an afternoon that blends sport with a powerful mission: raising funds and awareness for Huntington’s disease (HD), a devastating neurodegenerative disorder that affects thousands of families nationwide. Golfers can still sign up!
A Community United by Purpose
Over the past five years, Golf for a Cure has grown into a cornerstone event for the HDSA Massachusetts & Rhode Island Chapter. More than just a golf tournament, it serves as a gathering point for patients, families, researchers, clinicians, and supporters -- each driven by a shared goal of advancing research and improving care.
Funds raised from the event directly support HDSA’s critical initiatives, including:
- Cutting-edge research toward treatments and a cure
- Support programs for individuals and families affected by HD
- Centers of Excellence providing specialized, multidisciplinary care
Raising Awareness Beyond the Course
This year’s event is already gaining momentum thanks to the advocacy of dedicated HDSA members Janelle Johnson and Melissa Stefanowich, who recently appeared on Mass Appeal. Their segment highlighted the importance of community-driven fundraising and helped bring broader attention to both the event and the ongoing fight against Huntington’s disease.
